How old do I have to be to start the procedure to get my driving license?
In order to obtain a learner’s license, you have to be at least 17.5 years old. Additionally, you can only partake a driving examination when you turn 18 years old.
What is the theory test like?
The theoretical test in Cyprus is quite easier than other European countries. They usually ask about 10-15 traffic signs and the exam is only oral. They will just point at the sign and you have to name it.
What are the requirements for foreigners to get their license in Cyprus?
Foreigners must have a valid residence permit and live in Cyprus for at least six months before applying for their license. Keep in mind that you have to be able to prove the residency with specific documents (the same documents that will be used for the learner's license) See Here
Can I get a license in Cyprus without a residence permit or by using the renewal proof document?
No, you can’t. One can only obtain a license in Cyprus by providing their visa plastic card (non-EU citizen) or their Yellow Slip (EU citizen) .
In case of a failure, how long do I have to wait to try again?
In case of a failure, the system only let us book a new test for a student after 30 days. In the meantime, the student can take a few more lessons in order to be more prepared for the next exam.
Can I drive a car with a learner's license?
Yes, you can drive with a learner’s license under four conditions. You must have an insurance on your name, you must drive with someone who has had a license for at least 5 years, you must have the ‘L‘ or ‘E‘ sticker on your car and you are not allowed to drive in the highway.
Can I drive a motorcycle with a learner's license?
Yes you can, but you need to make sure you have insurance on your name and the 'L' sticker. You are not allowed to drive in the highway. and you can not drive with someone else on the motorbike.
In what language can I take my exam?
You can take both your learner’s license oral exam and your practical test in Greek or English. For professional licenses, the written exam can be taken in Greek, English or Turkish. The practical exam can be in either Greek or English.
